Colleen Vermeulen

As Director, Colleen leads efforts to partner with parishes and ministries to launch new classes and accompanies individuals as they discover and discern how God might be calling them to study the Sacred Scriptures.

A graduate of the University of Notre Dame (Master of Divinity, 2013 and Master of Nonprofit Administration, 2015) and Cornell University (B.A. History & Government, 2004), Colleen has been teaching our Encountering Jesus and Joining His Mission course since 2016. Colleen brings pastoral experience in evangelization and catechesis from years of parish ministry in North Carolina, Indiana, and Michigan.

Colleen and her husband of 8 years, Luke, live in Ypsilanti with their three young children. They enjoy fitness pursuits, debating what to plant in the vegetable garden, and travel to historical landmarks.

Surprising Fact? Colleen and her husband first met in Iraq while serving on active duty in the U.S. Army. Colleen continues to serve in the U.S. Army Reserve where she holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
